**WONDERFUL NEWS - CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR UNDER 9s & 10s**
Saturday 28th April 2012
Our UNDER 10s have WON the Primary League Division 1 A title. Following a draw in the first game, it took a goal 2 minutes from the end of the very tense 2nd game to win the game 1-0 and clinch the Championship. Our UNDER 9s won both their games to finish in joint top position in their Division 1 A and last week, in a thrilling match, they WON the Coulton Cup. What a fantastic end to the season for these young footballers.
On Saturday 5th of May our Under 9s went on to win the RT Tours Fleetwood Cup beating Scotland Boys 1 - 0 in the final.
MANY THANKS and WELL DONE to all the players and officials for bringing this success to POULTON YOUTH FC
Poulton Youth's Open Age team managed by Alan Cocker have finished Premier League Runners- up. They have won the Divisional Cup and on 17 May they won the Gledhill Cup ! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALAN AND HIS TEAM.
Saturday & Sunday 21st April & 2nd April 2012
Our under 12s bounced back from a mid-week loss to the possible league champions, to gain a 7-2 home win to help maintain their high league position. In the Hogan Plate semi-final our under 13s lost out in a penalty shoot-out after drawing 3-3 following extra time. Our under 15 picked up another 3 points and kept a clean sheet following their 3-0 away win
ONE OF OUR MANAGER'S GIVES A WONDERFUL REFLECTION OF HOW SOME OF OUR YOUNG PLAYERS ARE PROGRESSING IN THE GAME ..........
At Poulton Youth, we are proud to be able to give youngsters from our area the opportunity to experience the game of football. Many of our players start from the earliest age, around 5 years old, when in reception and often remain with the club until they reach the under 16 level. In some cases our most talented players are given the opportunity to play for professional clubs. Some, but not many, turn down the opportunity so that they can continue to play for our club. Others grasp the opportunity with both hands.
On 22nd January I found myself at Manchester United's training complex in Carrington. This is an enormous purpose built centre of football excellence. Just to get to the gate you have to go through a security barrier and drive over a mile down a private road. I was watching games between the youngsters from Man Utd and Preston North End. Surrounded by numerous, perfectly manicured pitches, only yards from where Sir Alex watches the likes of Giggs, Scholes and Rooney train every day. My main focus was the under 14 game. Harry, the left back for PNE, was marking James, the right wing for Man Utd. I couldn't help wondering how many of the parents and coaches watching that game knew that if you turned the clock back about a decade these same two boys could be found playing in the same reception squad on Cottam Hall under Parrish's tutelage every Saturday morning. (Also in the same match were four other boys from the Fylde coast, two each for Man Utd and PNE, all of who started their football in the Poulton Primary league). On either side of the under 14 game other age groups from both clubs were battling it out. In both the under 15 and under 13 games PNE fielded skillful left wingers, Tom and Harrison respectively. Just like Harry and James, their football experience was also born on the Cottam Hall fields a decade ago.
Who knows whether any of these boys will 'make it' in the game, but one thing is certain, they will never forget their first experience of football; doing their stretches, chasing the ball and taking a penalty whilst battling the elements on Poulton's hallowed turf.
Our football sessions began again at Cottam Hall Playing Fields with our SATURDAY MORNING CLUB on the 3rd September at 9.30am for players in Reception class, years 1,2 & 3
New players are very welcome to come along and join our club.
We hope all our members and their parents enjoy being with our club, both playing and watching their team during the coming season.

TESCO SCHOOL VOUCHERS
Tesco's are again giving vouchers for schools to their customers and once again we are collecting them.

Thank you for your help.
