History

Poulton Youth Football Club was formed by The Rev Derek Wiseman in 1970. Right from the start the Club's policy was to provide an organised game of football for every child who attends our Saturday morning sessions at Cottam Hall. This policy has remained the Club's priority throughout its history, and no child has ever been turned away through a lack of footballing ability.

In addition to our Saturday morning sessions we have had a total of 8 teams competing in the local primary and youth leagues from Under 9s to Under 16s and also an adult team.

Throughout the years we have won more than our fair share of trophies including the prestigious Lancashire F.A. Cup.
In 2006 the Club secured FA Development Club Status and we are currently working towards building a new clubhouse on Cottam Hall.

We hold our own Presentation Evening every year when every member of the Club receives a trophy. For several years we have hired the Sponsors Lounge overlooking the pitch at Bloomfield Road for this event when all the trophies won by the club and its members are presented.

No junior football club can survive without fundraising and sponsorship so please support the Club's fundraising events. In addition, no junior football club can survive without an army of enthusiastic volunteers.

We are no exception, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Committee members, managers, assistants and all those who have helped in any way. Without you there would be no Club.

Derek Booth - Secretary.

THE DAVE HUGHES TROPHY

Dave Hughes was Chairman of Poulton Youth Football Club from 1988 to 1994. During this time he also managed one of the Club's League teams and ran the Saturday Morning Club at Cottam Hall. Dave was a brilliant and dedicated Chairman and he gave a tremendous amount of his time to the Club. His achievements for the Club are literally too numerous to list but it can be safely said that his contribution to Poulton Youth Football Club cannot possibly be overstated. Sadly, Dave died at the early age of 51 in July 2002. Since then we have dedicated a trophy in his memory and this trophy is awarded to the Poulton Youth Player of the Year.

Winners of the trophy are as follows :
2003 Michael Jarvis
2004 Danny Morris
2005 Carl Eastwood
