CONGRATULATIONS TO TIM FIELDING OUR UNDER 10s MANAGER. WHO HAS JUST BEEN AWARDED THE PRIMARY LEAGUE UNDER 9s MANAGER OF THE YEAR FOR SEASON 2011/12
''LOOKING TO THE FUTURE''
THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT REQUEST IN THE HISTORY OF POULTON YOUTH FC (42 yrs) - RENOVATION PROJECT
For many years, our club has been looking to improve the facilities we have for our members at Cottam Hall Playing Fields, so far without much success, but at the end of this season there is a strong intention to finally have work underway to bring about the changes, that will benefit everyone involved with Poulton Youth FC.
We are now in our 3rd season of working in partnership with Poulton Town and during that time it has proved so obviously worthwhile for both clubs to work together, that we now look to cement that relationship by carrying out signififcant improvements to the clubhouse, car park and to provide better access to the pitches. The committee of both clubs now feel the time is right for us to move forward together by having a major renovation of the clubhouse along with the other needed improvements that are now so necessary.
Over the past few months both our clubs have been in discussion about what it is needed in renovating the present clubhouse, along with what do we as Poulton Youth require, the obvious one being that we need more storage area so we no longer have to use the old changing rooms. Although the Poulton Town clubhouse is a vast improvement on the other building, it is looking tired and is ready for a considerable refit.
With the help and support of those who have a strong interest and affinity with our clubs, we feel we can achieve significant changes that bring about clean, modern, practical facilities that we can all be proud of. We have a reasonable budget that we obviously must work to, but it is essential that we strive to get the most for our money in order to have the best we can afford.
The first thing we need to do is get proper plans drawn-up, so that they can be submitted to Wyre Borough Council. We have had some sketch plans prepared of a design that alters the entrance to the clubhouse and changing rooms, we also would like there to be 2 other small changing rooms along with an increase for storage of the equipment for both clubs. This is combined with improvements to the lounge, kitchen, toilets and 2 present changing rooms, with the outside being recladded. But we welcome any suggestions and ideas for these to be amended.
Therefore can I ask all officials to ask the parents in their squad a couple of important questions.
1 - Is anyone willing and able to draw-up plans on our joint clubs behalf, for the changes to the clubhouse. If so, please get it touch with me asap, as we need to get plans drawn and submitted (preferably before Christmas if at all possible). We will pay an appropriate fee.
2 - Do we have BUILDERS / TRADESMEN who would be willing to help carry-out this work, as well as someone who could possibly project manage this renovation. Perhaps others may be able to supply materials at discounted rates (or even cost). Any offers of help or sponsorship would also be very much appreciated, so that we can prepare for the anticipated work next summer.
In my view, between Poulton Youth FC and Poulton Town FC we have good people who have a strong affinity with either or both clubs and who would be willing to get involved and help us achieve the up to date clubhouse and surroundings that all our members and their parents deserve. I would like to get this work done locally and preferably from within our club and if we make an effort, I am optimistic it is achieveable.
PLEASE !!! WOULD ALL SQUADS TALK TO THEIR PARENTS AND OUTLINE OUR CLUBS INTENTIONS, WE NEED TO MAKE PROGRESS AND HOPEFULLY BETWEEN YOU ALL, WE WILL ACCOMPLISH THIS LONG AWAITED PROJECT.
If anyone requires any further detail, please give me a ring, time is short and we particularly want to agree on a design and get the plans submitted, so hopefully we have someone in the club who can urgently help us with this.
I do hope we get a positive response from our parents as we aim to provide their children with the fun and enjoyment they get from playing football at our wonderfull club POULTON YOUTH FC.
This considerable investment by our club and we want it to be a success.
If we pull-together as a club, we can achieve this ''GOAL'' and get the ''RESULT'' we have been aiming for, for so long.
Many thanks
Peter Nutter - Chairman PYFC

In the Play Off decider they lost to a strong BJFF team who on the night was the better team. However, winning the Coulton Cup and finishing League runners Up and winning the RT Tours Fleetwood Cup means that they have had a very successful season.
**WONDERFUL NEWS - CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR UNDER 9s & 10s**
Saturday 28th April 2012
Our UNDER 10s have WON the Primary League Division 1 A title. Following a draw in the first game, it took a goal 2 minutes from the end of the very tense 2nd game to win the game 1-0 and clinch the Championship. Our UNDER 9s won both their games to finish in joint top position in their Division 1 A and last week, in a thrilling match, they WON the Coulton Cup. What a fantastic end to the season for these young footballers.
On Saturday 5th of May our Under 9s went on to win the RT Tours Fleetwood Cup beating Scotland Boys 1 - 0 in the final.
MANY THANKS and WELL DONE to all the players and officials for bringing this success to POULTON YOUTH FC

ONE OF OUR MANAGER'S GIVES A WONDERFUL REFLECTION OF HOW SOME OF OUR YOUNG PLAYERS ARE PROGRESSING IN THE GAME ..........
At Poulton Youth, we are proud to be able to give youngsters from our area the opportunity to experience the game of football. Many of our players start from the earliest age, around 5 years old, when in reception and often remain with the club until they reach the under 16 level. In some cases our most talented players are given the opportunity to play for professional clubs. Some, but not many, turn down the opportunity so that they can continue to play for our club. Others grasp the opportunity with both hands.
On 22nd January I found myself at Manchester United's training complex in Carrington. This is an enormous purpose built centre of football excellence. Just to get to the gate you have to go through a security barrier and drive over a mile down a private road. I was watching games between the youngsters from Man Utd and Preston North End. Surrounded by numerous, perfectly manicured pitches, only yards from where Sir Alex watches the likes of Giggs, Scholes and Rooney train every day. My main focus was the under 14 game. Harry, the left back for PNE, was marking James, the right wing for Man Utd. I couldn't help wondering how many of the parents and coaches watching that game knew that if you turned the clock back about a decade these same two boys could be found playing in the same reception squad on Cottam Hall under Parrish's tutelage every Saturday morning. (Also in the same match were four other boys from the Fylde coast, two each for Man Utd and PNE, all of who started their football in the Poulton Primary league). On either side of the under 14 game other age groups from both clubs were battling it out. In both the under 15 and under 13 games PNE fielded skillful left wingers, Tom and Harrison respectively. Just like Harry and James, their football experience was also born on the Cottam Hall fields a decade ago.
Who knows whether any of these boys will 'make it' in the game, but one thing is certain, they will never forget their first experience of football; doing their stretches, chasing the ball and taking a penalty whilst battling the elements on Poulton's hallowed turf.
